We all choose a different path in life. As we travel these paths, we choose what direction to go from the moments we experience along the way. It took me 38 years of traveling down different roads to find my passion in life. I am grateful for the time it took me, as I learned many skills that have helped me develop my career as an encaustic artist.
I love to paint, I love experimenting too. Encaustic can be used in so many ways, it is one of the reasons I love it and how it fits my personality perfectly — always being able to switch and try something different while still staying within the confines of the medium. I typically start painting with a very loose idea in my head. As I build the layers, the painting helps guide the direction (or path) in which I proceed. It becomes a puzzle for me to figure out how to make all the pieces work. I am inspired by nature, earth, fire, water, metal and space, and these elements often show up in my work. What comes out through the brush is my experience on the path of life at a single moment in time.
