Passion, Color and Texture are interpreted differently by every artist and the playoff is often stimulating and inspirational.
Dave Waite, a Photographic Abstractionist and Rae Campbell, a celebrated Fused Glass Artist, are striving to accomplish both in this eye-challenging exhibit at the Art on Broadway Gallery, running from September through the end of October, 2019.
Artistically, Dave’s roots were in Abstract Oils and Acrylics, with much colored Pen & Ink and some Mobile creations. For the past 3 years, he has been experimenting with Photographic Abstractionism- using substrates from nature, electrical entities and random “found” media and environmental designs.
Much of his work is done at Siletz Bay, at the south end of Lincoln City on the central Oregon coast.
“The light is fantastic and ever-changing there. It energizes me constantly”, says Waite. “I am moved to create work that redirects the observer away from the mundane- away from the worries of life- toward something more beautiful, texturally unique and distracting to some degree.”
“Make sure that you purposefully view this display from both sides of your personal mirror!”
In life we are surrounded by color……some we are drawn to more than others…. I have a color pallet that I usually work with, but for this show I am stepping out of my comfort zone to experiment with some new colors, designs and techniques…
When you look into a mirror, you see a reflection of an image as as it really is, but from an artistic point of view, you can take that reflection, and change the colors and design to anything that you can imagine.
Your imagination is unlimited, and in this body of work, I have chosen to keep some work realistic, in the way we see actually it, and in other works, I have used techniques, colors and designs to come up with a totally different look.
I would like to leave the viewer with the chance to see, reflect and imagine.
